The Diocesan Youth Council is back! Commissioned by Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, Bishop of Parramatta, the Youth Council offers advice and support relating to the purpose and role of youth ministry with young people in the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta.

The Youth Council connects with relevant church agencies and local communities to ensure that youth ministry in the diocese offers coherent and coordinated opportunities to encounter the person of Jesus Christ, which in turn engages and animates all aspects of their lives.

Under a re-invigorated model, Catholic Youth Parramatta are searching for two members (18-35) from each of the FIVE Deaneries. In addition to a quarterly meeting, they will be engaged as voices into the Deanery Pastoral Councils over time.

PURPOSE:

  1. Advise on the vision and implementation of a safe and comprehensive youth ministry approach in the Diocese of Parramatta.
  2. Promote community, communication and co-operation between schools, parishes, movements, and organisations.
  3. Advocate and support successful initiatives from local communities.
  4. Identify gaps and areas of concern to provide feedback and steps for development.
  5. Facilitate opportunities for listening and dialoguing with young people in the diocese.
  6. Provide support, training, and networking opportunities for those who minister with young people and youth leaders.
  7. Identify and support the leadership development and faith formation of young people for the purpose of future leadership roles within the diocese.
